Dubai, UAE, 16 March 2025: Azizi Developments, a leading private developer in the UAE, has signed a landmark agreement with the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to support the construction and maintenance of mosques across the emirate.Under the agreement, Azizi Developments will sponsor the maintenance of ten mosques for five years, and will build five mosques, at combined total of AED 80 million.
Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, Mr. Mirwais Azizi, has signed the agreement in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
On this important contribution, Mr. Mirwais Azizi commented: "In this holy month of Ramadan, I am pleased to announce the construction of five mosques, as well as a special donation to the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department to help maintain ten mosques, in Dubai. We see it as important to give back to the communities we operate in, with Dubai – our home that has supported and given us so much throughout our journey – being our priority. By building and maintaining these mosques, with even more to come in the future, we aim to create spaces that foster community, reflection, and connection, enhancing the spiritual and social fabric of the emirate."
This donation reflects Azizi’s ongoing commitment to community development, social responsibility, and enhancing the quality of life for residents in the emirate and beyond. The mosques that the developer is constructing will be located in Azizi’s Riviera in MBR City, Venice in Dubai South, and in three other soon-to-be revealed locations across the emirate.
The agreement also includes provisions for the establishment of endowments (Waqf) connected to the mosques, ensuring sustainable funding for their ongoing maintenance and operations. This initiative aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote philanthropy and community engagement.
The Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department will oversee the maintenance and operation of the mosques, so that they serve the community effectively.
This partnership builds on Azizi Developments' extensive track record of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which include sizable contributions to education and healthcare, and support for people of determination, amongst other areas of impact. The company has previously donated AED 100 million to the 1 Billion Meals initiative, as well as AED 600 million to the Mother's Endowment campaign, among other charitable efforts, before having contributed AED 3 billion, the largest charitable contribution ever made by a private entity in the United Arab Emirates, to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) earlier this year.
